March 27, 28, 29, 2020 Kids for Kids Hockey Tournament KINGSTON, ONTARIO

Good Afternoon,
Kids for Kids Hockey has been paying close attention to the global outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19. Although the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and KFL&A Public Health have determined the public health risk is low, we want to ensure we are being responsible and responding appropriately. The well-being of the children, youth, and families that attend our tournament, as well as the volunteers is our top priority. In light of recent events, and direction of Hockey Canada and the OMHA who sanction the tournament, the volunteer committee has no choice but to Suspend the 2020 Kids for Kids Tournament.

There are several operational issues to take into consideration and we will share more information directly with you as soon as we can. Hotels and Motels have been informed of the situation and we are working with Tourism Kingston to continue to message the properties. Reimbursement of tournament fees is being coordinated and a meeting is scheduled for tomorrow.

We recognize the significant impact this decision will have on families, charities, as well as the broader community, but this precaution is necessary in order to ensure that we keep all community members safe.

By Ontario Minor Hockey Association, 03/12/20, 8:00PM EDT

The Ontario Minor Hockey Associations foremost priority is the health and safety of our participants, volunteers and hockey families. We have been proactively working alongside Health Canada, Hockey Canada and local public health officials in regards to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). In light of recent events, the OMHA Officers have made the decision to immediately suspend all hockey activities. We will be proactive in informing our constituents on all upcoming protocols and required actions as they become available.
